Peace IS conflict resolution….

FB Cover Image

This is one of my favorite quotes about conflict resolution. I’ve seen several variations on this theme, but I think I like this one best — so much so that it’s on the back of my business card.  I like that it reminds us that peace is something you WORK toward.  Avoidance won’t get you there.  You need creative solutions.

I’m often asked “Who is Dorothy Thompson?”   I knew nothing of her before finding her quote, but she is an impressive and noteworthy woman.   Per Wikipedia “Dorothy Thompson (9 July 1893 – 30 January 1961) was an American journalist and radio broadcaster, who in 1939 was recognized by Time Magazine as the second most influential woman in America next to Eleanor Roosevelt. She is notable as the first American journalist to be expelled from Nazi Germany in 1934 and as one of the few women news commentators on radio during the 1930s. Many fondly referred to her as the ‘First Lady of American Journalism.'”   Pretty impressive.  Her personal story is also very interesting.    There are several biographies about Thompson.  I need to add one to my reading list.
