There’s a lot that goes into choosing your mediator. Mediation styles vary, as do approaches. Cost savings often motivate people to select mediation over litigation, but within mediation, rates and billing methods vary widely.
I’ve put a lot of thought into the cost of the mediation services I offer. I’ve come to mediation and coaching based on my personal and professional experiences learning how to manage conflict productively, and my love of helping others do the same. I want to be able to reach as wide an audience as possible and help as many people as I can, while compensating myself fairly.
I see why you have chosen this as your life’s work.
~ Mediation Client
I charge a flat hourly rate of $160 for all the conflict resolution services I provide – coaching, mediation, consulting, and supporting work behind the scenes. I bill at 15 minute intervals. My rate is slightly below market rate. I consider it to be fair to both me and my clients. Other mediators offer package rates. I do not. I want to provide you with the services you want and need. If I try to predict that up front, then you or I may end up getting a less than fair rate. I don’t want either of us to feel that we have not received a fair value from working together.
Because of these considerations, I do not offer payment plans or discounts. I ask for a modest deposit when we start working together. Payments are made as services are rendered and can be paid by cash, personal check, or credit card. Mediation can be scheduled at less frequent intervals to spread out cost and I make every effort to only provide you with services you need.
Facilitation services may be offered “in the gift” (similar to a pay-what-you-can model) for selected organizations. Learn more.
